2024 Emmy Nomination: Idris Elba, Aja Naomie King, ‘Abbott Elementary’ and More Score Noms

hijack renewed

The nominations for the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards are being revealed during a live ceremony hosted by Tony Hale, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Television Academy chairman Cris Abrego. We’ll be updating the nominees list in real time as each category is announced, so keep refreshing for the latest information.

If you’re wondering why some of your favorite shows and stars are missing from the list, it’s worth noting that eligibility rules and scheduling quirks have left some notable names out of the running this year.

Shows like “The Bear” are back in the mix, but newer seasons of “Bridgerton,” “House of the Dragon,” and “The Boys” didn’t meet the eligibility criteria. Notably, “The Crown” will miss out due to its episode release timing, but Olivia Colman’s guest role on “The Bear” does qualify.

Because of the recent Hollywood strikes, there’s been a shuffle in what’s eligible. Series that aired just too late last year, such as “Silo,” “Black Mirror,” and “Outlander,” are in contention now. This shakeup opens the door for some underdog entries, potentially making the nominations more exciting and varied.

Due to the lower submission rate caused by the strikes, eight categories will feature only five nominees instead of the usual six, adding another layer of unpredictability.

Keep an eye out for the unexpected and prepare for a few surprises. The full list of nominees will be revealed in real-time, so stay tuned and get ready to cheer for your favorites.

The Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony will air live on ABC from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 15, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
