Aja Naomi King is reuniting with Kevin Hart on screen. The actress has joined the cast of an untitled spy comedy at Netflix that also stars Hart and Henry Cavill, marking her first on-screen reunion with Hart since the 2017 comedy-drama The Upside, in which she played Latrice, the mother of Hart’s character’s child.
McG is directing from a script by Jonathan Tropper, Adam and Aaron Nee, and Lizzie and Wendy Molyneux. The film follows two rival spies, played by Hart and Cavill, who cross paths at a Lamaze class after their wives become fast friends, forcing the men into an unlikely and dangerous partnership on the road to fatherhood.
Jason Isaacs and Justine Lupe have also joined the film. Details on all three roles are being kept under wraps.
The project carries a stacked producing roster. Shawn Levy and Dan Levine produce for 21 Laps, Ryan Reynolds, Ashley Fox and Johnny Pariseau for Maximum Effort, and Hart, Luke Kelly-Clyne and Bryan Smiley for Hartbeat, alongside McG. Executive producers include Emily Morris, Aaron Edmonds, Patrick Gooing, John Scotti, Sean Lewis, Mary Viola and Josh McLaglen.
The film is the latest in a growing line of Netflix collaborations with Hart, whose recent titles on the platform include “Lift,” “Me Time,” “The Man From Toronto,” “Fatherhood” and “72 Hours,” which premiered on the streamer in July. No release date has been announced.
