In a competitive bidding war, Sony Pictures has emerged as the victorious studio to bring Jack Follman’s intriguing 29-page short story, “It’s Over,” to the silver screen. The deal, valued in the mid- to high-six-figure range, marks the first significant material sale following the end of a lengthy writers’ strike.

The project’s allure lies in the involvement of seasoned genre writer Akela Cooper, known for her contributions to hits like “Hell Fest,” “Malignant,” “M3GAN,” “The Nun II,” and the upcoming sequel “M3GAN 2.0.” Cooper, who also holds the role of co-executive producer for “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds,” is set to pen the screenplay.

“It’s Over” entered the market on the same day the writers’ strike concluded after nearly five months. According to Deadline, the response from industry insiders was swift, underlining the story’s potential to captivate audiences.
