Netflix is bringing an undercover operation to your screens with Legends, an upcoming six-episode thriller that takes inspiration from one of the most daring criminal investigations in British history. And guess who’s joining the mission? Aml Ameen (A Man in Full, Rustin) has officially signed on, adding his talents to a stacked cast that also includes Tom Burke (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga), Steve Coogan (Philomena), and Hayley Squires (Beau Is Afraid).
Created and written by Neil Forsyth (The Gold, Guilt), Legends dives into a little-known but jaw-dropping real-life operation from the early ’90s. With the UK’s borders being overrun by drug smuggling, Her Majesty’s Customs and Excise came up with an unconventional solution: send a group of everyday customs employees undercover to infiltrate the country’s most dangerous drug gangs. The catch? These weren’t highly trained MI6 agents—just regular folks given new identities and thrown into the deep end of the criminal underworld. Their aliases became their “legends,” and their survival depended on how well they could play the part.

Directing duties are split between Brady Hood (Top Boy, Great Expectations), who’s tackling Episodes 1-4, and Julian Holmes (Reacher, The Boys), who’s handling Episodes 5-6. Charlie Leech (The Gold, Lovesick) rounds out the team as series producer.
