Angela Bassett and Gabourey Sidibe are coming back to American Horror Story for its 13th season, and they’re not alone. Ryan Murphy dropped a Halloween teaser confirming the cast for the 2026 season, and it’s basically an AHS all-star lineup.
Alongside Bassett and Sidibe, the season will bring back Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Leslie Grossman, and Jessica Lange. Ariana Grande is also officially joining the franchise, reunited with Murphy after Scream Queens.
The teaser played Vera Lynn’s “I’ll Be Seeing You” while listing the cast names, and ended with Emma Roberts’ famous line from Coven: “Surprise, bitch. I bet you thought you’d seen the last of me.” Tone set.
Bassett first joined the series in Coven as Marie Laveau and went on to appear in several seasons, most recently Apocalypse. Sidibe also made her AHS debut in Coven and returned for Freak Show and Apocalypse. Lange’s return is especially shocking after she publicly said earlier this year that she had no plans to come back.
With Paulson and Peters also back in the mix, this season already feels like a love letter to longtime viewers. And with so many Coven veterans, speculation is already starting that Season 13 may revisit that world or pull threads from multiple past seasons the way Apocalypse did. FX and Murphy haven’t revealed the theme yet, and you know how he likes to play the long tease, so we’ll be watching for clues.
Season 12, Delicate, wrapped in 2024, which means this next installment arrives after a few years break. With this cast and this kind of buildup, Season 13 could be a major moment for the franchise.
