Anthony Mackie is set to star in the upcoming action-thriller Raven, produced by Corey Large. The film also stars Pablo Schreiber, Ben Foster, Ron Livingston, and Hassie Harrison, with Tom Sierchio directing from his own script. Cameras are set to roll this autumn.
Raven follows Fay Darrow (Schreiber), a former Detroit cop turned hitman for the New Jersey mob, who’s ready to walk away from a violent life. But when his final job goes sideways, a volatile mob underling with something to prove (Mackie) and a ruthless enforcer known as “The Taxman” (Foster) are sent to kill him. Fay survives, but the mob’s retaliation takes everything he loves, leading him on a relentless campaign for revenge.
The project is being financed by Dublin-based Playhouse Studios alongside Pink 308, and Newstar Financing’s Kyle Fox and Dan Reardon. Playhouse Co-Founder & Co-CEO Lorcan Kavanagh and Omar Collins will executive produce for Playhouse, joined by Gordon Bijelonic, Alfredo Chang, Jordan Nott, Lisa Didario, George Zakk, and Farid Vaziri. International Film Trust (IFT) is handling worldwide sales, with Sales President Christian de Gallegos set to introduce the package to distributors at the upcoming American Film Market (AFM) in Century City, California.
Mackie recently reprised his role as Sam Wilson/Captain America in Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World, which grossed over $415 million worldwide. He’s also known for The Hurt Locker, Million Dollar Baby, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. He’ll next appear in John Lee Hancock’s legal drama Monsanto opposite Glen Powell and Laura Dern, and is making his directorial debut with Spark, starring Saniyya Sidney as civil rights pioneer Claudette Colvin.
Schreiber, known for Orange Is the New Black and Halo, recently appeared in Motor City alongside Ben Foster and Alan Ritchson. Foster, meanwhile, has been on a roll following standout performances in Hell or High Water, 3:10 to Yuma, and Finestkind.
