Apple TV+ has set a summer debut for its upcoming crime thriller Lucky, announcing that the series will premiere on Wednesday, July 15, with the first two episodes dropping simultaneously. New episodes will follow weekly every Wednesday through August 19. The news was revealed during Apple TV’s 2026 press day, alongside a teaser and first-look images.
Based on the bestselling novel Lucky by Marissa Stapley, the limited series centers on a high-risk con that unravels fast. Anya Taylor-Joy stars as Lucky, a seasoned con artist forced into survival mode after a multimillion-dollar heist goes disastrously wrong. With federal agents closing in and dangerous criminal forces on her trail, Lucky must stay one step ahead to escape with her life — and whatever future she has left.
Taylor-Joy, who also executive produces, leads a stacked ensemble that includes Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Annette Bening, Timothy Olyphant, Drew Starkey, Clifton Collins Jr., William Fichtner, Mo McRae, among others.
Bening plays Priscilla, a ruthless mob leader whose pursuit of Lucky escalates the danger at every turn. Olyphant portrays Lucky’s father, John, while Ellis-Taylor takes on the role of FBI Agent Billie Rand. McRae appears as Agent Eli Gates, part of the federal pressure bearing down on Lucky as the net tightens. Starkey stars as Cary, Lucky’s husband, whose loyalty and relationship are tested as her double life begins to collapse.
The teaser hints at a relentless ride packed with gunfights, car explosions, and near-misses, driven by years of bad decisions finally catching up to its protagonist. While the series leans into action and spectacle, it also frames Lucky’s journey as a character study — one rooted in desperation, instinct, and reinvention.
Lucky hails from Apple Studios and is co-showrun by Jonathan Tropper and Cassie Pappas. Tropper executive produces through his Tropper Ink banner under his overall deal with Apple TV+, alongside Pappas, Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter for Hello Sunshine, Taylor-Joy via her LadyKiller banner, and director Jonathan van Tulleken, who helmed the pilot.
The series continues Apple TV+’s collaboration with Hello Sunshine, whose previous projects include The Morning Show, The Last Thing He Told Me, Truth Be Told, and Surface. It also joins Apple’s broader 2026 slate, which features titles like Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2, Outcome, and Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed.
With its July launch, Lucky positions itself as a summer crime thriller anchored by a volatile antihero and an ensemble built for tension. The first two episodes premiere July 15 on Apple TV+.
