Apple TV+ Unveils Trailer for Season Two of Hit Comedy “The Big Door Prize”

Apple TV+ has dropped the trailer for the upcoming second season of the critically acclaimed comedy series “The Big Door Prize,” featuring a star-studded cast including Chris O’Dowd, Gabrielle Dennis, Crystal Fox, and more.

Scheduled for a global premiere on Apple TV+ starting April 24, 2024, the second season will kick off with a bang, releasing three episodes initially, followed by a weekly release of one new episode every Wednesday until June 12, 2024.

Derived from M.O. Walsh’s novel and developed by Emmy Award winner David West Read, season two of “The Big Door Prize” delves deeper into the lives of Deerfield’s residents as they brace themselves for the enigmatic “next stage” heralded by the Morpho machine. With potentials swapped for visions, the community witnesses the emergence of new connections and a cascade of fresh inquiries. Dusty (Chris O’Dowd) and Cass (Gabrielle Dennis) opt for a break, while Trina (Djouliet Amara) and Jacob (Sammy Fourlas) realize they can break free from old stereotypes. Romance blossoms for Giorgio (Josh Segarra) and Izzy (Crystal Fox), while Hana (Ally Maki) and Father Reuben (Damon Gupton) embark on a quest to uncover the machine’s true purpose, leaving the townfolk questioning everything they once held true.

Featuring an ensemble cast led by Emmy Award winner O’Dowd, Dennis, Maki, Gupton, Segarra, Crystal Fox, Fourlas, and Amara, the series is produced by Skydance Television and CJ ENM/Studio Dragon.

The second season welcomes both returning and new guest stars, adding depth to the already captivating storyline. Justine Lupe, Aaron Roman Weiner, Mary Holland, Patrick Kerr, Cocoa Brown, Carrie Barrett, Elizabeth Hunter, Jim Meskimen, Matt Dellapina, and Melissa Ponzio join the ensemble.

Read serves as showrunner and executive producer, with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell executive producing for Skydance Television, and Miky Lee, Jey-hyun Kim, and Hyun Park for Studio Dragon. The series is directed by Steven Tsuchida, Heather Jack, Jordan Canning, Satya Bhabha, and Declan Lowney.

Following its successful debut on Apple TV+ last year, “The Big Door Prize” garnered critical acclaim, achieving Rotten Tomatoes Certified Fresh status during its first season, and has been lauded as “thought-provoking,” “hilarious,” and “one of the best comedy debuts in years.”
