Apple TV+ Announces Premiere of “The Buccaneers” – A Fresh Take on 1870s Drama [TRAILER]

THE BUCCANEERS

Apple TV+ has announced the upcoming release of “The Buccaneers,” a series set to debut on Wednesday, November 8, 2023. The show will launch with its first three episodes, followed by a weekly release schedule, with a new episode airing every Wednesday until the series concludes on December 13.

“The Buccaneers” features an ensemble cast including Kristine Frøseth as Nan St. George, Alisha Boe as Conchita Closson, Josie Totah as Mabel Elmsworth, Aubri Ibrag as Lizzy Elmsworth, Imogen Waterhouse as Jinny St. George, and Mia Threapleton as Honoria Marable. Christina Hendricks stars as Mrs. St. George, with additional cast members such as Josh Dylan, Guy Remmers, Matthew Broome, and Barney Fishwick.

The series is created and written by Katherine Jakeways and directed by Susanna White, both acclaimed figures in the industry. They also serve as executive producers alongside Beth Willis. “The Buccaneers” is produced by The Forge Entertainment.

The show is a modern take on the 1870s, adapted from Edith Wharton’s unfinished novel. It comprises eight episodes and is described by Apple as a story about “girls with money, men with power.” Set in the 1870s, the series follows young American women arriving in London during the high society season, seeking husbands and titles.

Katherine Jakeways’ adaptation of Wharton’s work aims to provide a satisfying conclusion, addressing previous controversies surrounding the novel’s endings. With its cast, compelling plot, and production quality, “The Buccaneers” is set to become a significant addition to Apple TV+.
