‘The Pitt’ Season 3: Ayesha Harris Promoted to Series Regular As Another Cast Member Exits

Ayesha Harris is stepping into a bigger role on HBO Max’s hit medical drama The Pitt. The actress, who plays night shift resident Dr. Parker Ellis, has been promoted to series regular for Season 3, after appearing in select episodes across Seasons 1 and 2. Her expanded role will give fans a deeper look at her character navigating the challenges and high stakes of Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center.

Harris’s television credits include recurring roles in Amazon Prime Video’s Daisy Jones and the Six and Netflix’s Glamorous, alongside Kim Cattrall and Miss Benny. She has also appeared in This Is Us, The L Word: Generation Q, Abbott Elementary, and Good Girls. She is represented by Innovative Artists, MRK MGMT, and Goodman Genow.

The promotion coincides with the departure of Supriyah Ganesh, who has played senior resident Dr. Samira Mohan since Season 1. Her exit was carefully developed over Season 2, as Mohan struggled with balancing her personal life and her career. Fans watched her wrestle with uncertainty about her future, even suggesting a potential focus in geriatrics with Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle), before ultimately realizing she needed a break from the emergency room to determine where she could thrive the most.

This storyline mirrors the natural flow of a teaching hospital, where residents frequently move in and out, and provides a realistic depiction of a medical professional evaluating their career path. Ganesh’s departure is story-driven, giving Mohan an organic send-off while opening the door for Ellis’s character to step into a larger role.

Since its 2025 debut, The Pitt has been a critical and audience favorite, earning 13 Emmy nominations and wins in categories including Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor (Noah Wyle). With Harris’s promotion and Ganesh’s thoughtful exit, Season 3 promises fresh perspectives and compelling stories from Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center.
