Ayo Edebiri and Danielle Brooks Join Cast of Encores! You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown Revival

New York City Center has announced the cast for its Encores! production of You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown, running February 3 through 14, 2027. Danielle Brooks and Ayo Edebiri are among the highlights of a starry ensemble that also includes David Hyde Pierce in the title role and Jin Ha as Linus.

Based on Charles M. Schulz’s beloved Peanuts comic strip, the musical unfolds as a series of mostly unconnected vignettes that follow Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang through small but seismic adventures capturing the joy, struggle and quiet urgency of growing up. Featuring songs including “Happiness,” “Little Known Facts” and the title song, the show reminds audiences of the importance of searching for happiness anyway. The upcoming Encores! production will re-stage the musical’s original version, which was a hit Off-Broadway before coming to Broadway in 1971.

Edebiri, whose Emmy-winning performance in The Bear has established her as one of today’s most exciting performers, plays Snoopy. She comes to the production following her Broadway debut in Proof this spring. Brooks, known for her role as Taystee in Orange is the New Black and her Oscar and Tony nominations for The Color Purple, plays Lucy. This marks her return to the stage after her award-nominated run in the 2022 production of The Piano Lesson. Pierce, a Tony winner known for his Emmy-winning work in Frasier and acclaimed Broadway turns in Hello, Dolly! and Pirates! The Penzance Musical, leads the cast as Charlie Brown. Ha, who recently appeared alongside Edebiri in Proof on Broadway and stars in Pachinko, plays Linus.

Tony Award winner Sam Pinkleton, known for Oh, Mary!, directs the production, which features choreography by Sunny Min-Sook Hitt and music direction by Meghann Zervoulis Bate. The musical features music, lyrics and a book by Clark Gesner.

You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown kicks off the 2027 Encores! season at New York City Center, which also includes Hallelujah, Baby! running March 17 through 28 and Kiss of the Spider Woman running April 28 through May 9. Single ticket sales begin October 14 for the general public.
