The Bad Boys franchise began in 1995.
It was then that we were first introduced to Will Smith, who was 27 at the time, as Mike Lowry. And Martin Lawrence, who was 30 at the time, as Marcus Barnett.
The first film centered on Miami-Dade detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett who have to find out who stole $100 million worth of heroin from the police station headquarters. Suspecting it was an inside job, Internal Affairs gives them five days to track down the drugs. If they don’t Internal Affairs would shut down the narcotics division. Then things take a turn for the funny when hot head, family man Marcus has to play the smooth-talking ladies man, Mike Lowry. Why? To gain the trust of a call girl (Tea Leoni), a key witness in their investigation.
Bad Boys grossed over $141 million in the box offices. Then almost 10 years later, Bad Boys 2 was released in 2003. The sequel took in over $273 million in the box office. And nearly 20 years since the sequel and 30 years since the first film, Bad Boys for Life has finally been released.
