BET+ Unveils Trailer for Upcoming Series ‘Diarra from Detroit’ Starring Diarra Kilpatrick, Morris Chestnut, Phylicia Rashad and More

BET+ is set to premiere its new original series, “Diarra from Detroit,” exclusively on March 21. Created and led by Diarra Kilpatrick, the show revolves around a divorcing schoolteacher’s relentless pursuit to uncover the truth behind a mysterious disappearance linked to her rebound Tinder date.

Also starring in the series as a regular are Morris Chestnut, Phylicia Rashad, DomiNque Perry, Claudia Logan, Bryan Terrell Clark, Shannon Wallace, and Jon Chaffin. David Zayas, Harry Lennix, Paul Ben-Victor, Bechir Sylvain will recur with guest stars Kash Doll, John Salley, Icewear Vezzo, and Julio Macias.

The narrative follows Diarra Brickland, portrayed by Kilpatrick, a schoolteacher navigating divorce who refuses to accept being ghosted by her Tinder date. As she digs deeper into the mysterious disappearance, she finds herself entangled in a decades-old mystery rooted in the Detroit underworld. Along the way, her coworkers, friends, and lovers become unexpected allies, propelling her down a dangerous rabbit hole.

The executive credits for “Diarra from Detroit” include creators Diarra Kilpatrick and Miles Orion Feldsott, along with directors Chioke Nassor, Brennan Shroff, Sadé Clacken Joseph, and America Young. The writing team is composed of Kilpatrick, Feldsott, Mark Ganek, Jacob Copithorne, Doug Hall, Lisa McQuillan, Esa Lewis, Helen Krieger, and Ester Lou. Executive producers include Kilpatrick, Feldsott, Darren Goldberg, and Kenya Barris for Khalabo Ink Society, with co-executive producers Ester Lou and Mark Ganek.
