After eight seasons, The Chi is coming to an end. Showtime’s beloved drama set on the South Side of Chicago has spent years telling stories of love, loss, community, and resilience through some of television’s most grounded and emotionally complex characters. As the final season unfolds, the cast is reflecting on what the show has meant and what they hope audiences carry with them long after the credits roll for the last time.
We sat down with Birgundi Baker, Jacob Latimore, and Hannaha Hall, three of the series’ core cast members, to talk about the legacy of The Chi, what keeps audiences so emotionally connected season after season, and what it means to bring this chapter to a close. Baker, Latimore, and Hall also share what one word they would use to describe their characters this final season, and Hall, a Chicago native, opens up about the moments she had to school her castmates on the real culture, slang, and spirit of the city that made this show what it is.
