When counseling isn’t enough, she takes matters into her own hands. Filmmaker Kinnedy “ScribeCash” Storay has begun production on Killer Counselor, a four-episode scripted psychological thriller series that is equal parts crime drama and moral reckoning.
Brely Evans leads the series as Vanessa Harper alongside Tabitha Brown as Dr. Elaine Whitmore, Lawrence Robinson as Daniel and Drea Kelly as Rachel.
Evans stars as Vanessa Harper, a respected therapist dedicated to helping women navigate abusive and toxic relationships who harbors a dangerous secret: when counseling isn’t enough, she takes justice into her own hands, permanently. As a string of mysterious deaths begins drawing law enforcement’s attention, Vanessa must protect her clients, her mission and the double life she has carefully concealed.
Brown portrays Dr. Elaine Whitmore, Vanessa’s former mentor, who entrusts her with her clients as she steps away from her longtime practice. Before leaving, Elaine delivers a warning about the dangers of carrying other people’s pain, one that takes on greater meaning as Vanessa’s two worlds begin to collide. Brown also serves as a producer on the series.
The ensemble also includes L-R: Taylor Barr, Quin Walters, Jamaal Lewis, Jontill Grard, Bobby Gene, Joe Goode, Yohance Myles, and December Aboh. Storay directs, executive produces and serves as editor, in addition to originating the story. Evans also executive produces. The screenplay is written by Tamala Lynn based on Storay’s original story.
Production is currently underway in Los Angeles.
