The musical adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ popular novel, ‘The Notebook,’ is set to make its Broadway debut this spring. Previews will begin on February 10, 2024, at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, with the grand opening on March 14.
‘The Notebook’ musical narrates the timeless love story of Allie and Noah, despite the challenges that threaten to tear them apart.
The lead cast includes Jordan Tyson as Younger Allie, Joy Woods as Middle Allie, and Tony Award-winner Maryann Plunkett as Older Allie. For Noah, the roles will be played by John Cardoza as Younger Noah, Ryan Vasquez as Middle Noah, and Dorian Harewood as Older Noah. Notably, this marks Harewood return to Broadway after 45 years.
This musical, based on the best-selling novel, features music and lyrics by Ingrid Michaelson and a book by Bekah Brunstetter. Following its successful world premiere at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater, the production expanded to Broadway audiences.
The creative team from the Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s run will return, with direction by Michael Greif and Schele Williams and choreography by Katie Spelman.
The production boasts a talented team, with scenic design by David Zinn and Brett J. Banakis, costume design by Paloma Young, lighting design by Ben Stanton, sound design by Nevin Steinberg, and hair and wig design by Mia Neal. Music supervision is by Carmel Dean, with arrangements by Ingrid Michaelson and orchestrations by John Clancy, and Geoffrey Ko as the music director.
