Marvel Studios has unveiled the first trailer for “Captain America: Brave New World,” marking Anthony Mackie’s debut as the titular superhero. Mackie, who previously portrayed Sam Wilson, also known as the Falcon, steps into the role of Captain America following Chris Evans’ departure.
In the trailer, Sam Wilson is approached by President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, played by Harrison Ford, who seeks to recruit him as a U.S. agent. The action quickly intensifies as Wilson thwarts an assassination attempt at the White House. The trailer also teases the introduction of Red Hulk, a new gamma-irradiated antagonist, hinting at a potential plotline from the Marvel comics.
“Captain America: Brave New World” continues Sam Wilson’s journey, which began in the Disney+ series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.” The series chronicled Wilson’s transition to Captain America and was well-received by fans and critics, earning five Emmy nominations.
The film brings back familiar faces, including Danny Ramirez as the new Falcon, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, and introduces new characters like Shira Haas as Sabra and Giancarlo Esposito in a villainous role. Liv Tyler and Tim Blake Nelson also return, reprising their roles from “The Incredible Hulk.”
Directed by Julius Onah and written by Malcolm Spellman, Dalan Musson, and Matthew Orton, the film promises a political thriller vibe reminiscent of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.”
“Captain America: Brave New World” is set to hit theaters on February 14, 2025, and promises to be a significant addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
