The ruse is running out of time. Hulu has dropped the official trailer for Season 2 of Chad Powers, and things are getting considerably more complicated for Russ Holliday (Glen Powell) and his elaborate double life as fictional college quarterback Chad Powers.
With Ricky (Perry Mattfeld) now wise to the fact that the disgraced former Oregon quarterback has been wearing prosthetics and pretending to be a college student to lead the South Georgia Catfish to a National Championship, Russ is running out of room to maneuver. Coach Hudson and Gerry are growing suspicious, the whole town has fallen for Chad, and Russ is not exactly built for sustained deception.
“I am a man living inside the fake skin of another man,” Russ tells Ricky in the trailer. “It is a weird situation.”
With the Catfish closer than ever to a College Football Playoff berth, Russ and Danny must convince the one person who wants nothing to do with them, Ricky, to help keep the act alive long enough to finish the season.
The series stars Powell as Russ Holliday/Chad Powers, Mattfeld as Ricky, Quentin Plair as Coach Byrd, Wynn Everett as Tricia Yeager, Frankie Rodriguez as Danny and Steve Zahn as Coach Jake Hudson.
Based on the Eli’s Places segment from ESPN and Omaha Productions, Chad Powers was co-created by Glen Powell and Michael Waldron. Eli Manning executive produces alongside Peyton Manning, Jamie Horowitz and Ben Brown for Omaha Productions, and Burke Magnus, Brian Lockhart and Craig Lazarus for ESPN. Powell executive produces with Dan Cohen under Barnstorm Productions, with Waldron and Adam Fasullo executive producing for Anomaly Pictures. Luvh Rakhe also executive produces.
