The original ‘Dexter,’ premiered on Showtime in 2006 and was based on Jeff Lindsay’s novel ‘Darkly Dreaming Dexter’. It follows Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall), a forensic blood spatter analyst for Miami Metro Police Department who moonlights as a vigilante serial killer. Taught by his adoptive father, Harry (James Remar), Dexter targets only those who have escaped justice. The series, which ran for eight seasons and concluded in 2013, became a cultural phenomenon, earning Michael C. Hall a Golden Globe for his performance.

In 2021, Showtime revived the series with ‘Dexter: New Blood,’ set ten years after the original finale. Dexter, living under an assumed identity in Iron Lake, New York, is forced to confront his past when his estranged son, Harrison, finds him. The series explores Dexter’s attempts to connect with his son while battling his dark nature.
