Clarence Maclin is the latest name to join the growing cast of Netflix’s upcoming limited thriller series ‘Rabbit, Rabbit.’
Maclin will appear in a recurring guest star role alongside previously announced lead Adam Driver, with Regina Hall, Odessa Young, and Will Poulter also set to star. While details surrounding Maclin’s character are being kept under wraps, his addition brings even more weight to what’s shaping up to be one of Netflix’s most intense character-driven dramas.
Created and showrun by Peter Craig, ‘Rabbit, Rabbit’ centers on J-Will (Driver), an escaped convict cornered by law enforcement at a remote truck stop. In a desperate attempt to negotiate his freedom, he takes a group of hostages — but what begins as a standoff quickly spirals into something far more volatile. The situation evolves into an unpredictable social experiment among the captives, while simultaneously unfolding as a cerebral battle between J-Will and a seasoned FBI crisis negotiator.
That negotiator, Poppy, will be portrayed by Regina Hall. A retired FBI supervisory special agent trained in “tactical empathy,” Poppy is reluctantly pulled back into the field to manage the escalating crisis. Known for her razor-sharp instincts and unwillingness to be manipulated, she meets J-Will on equal intellectual footing — turning the standoff into an emotional and psychological chess match where conversation itself becomes a weapon.
Maclin’s casting continues his impressive run following the critical success of ‘Sing Sing,’ which he co-wrote and starred in. The A24 drama — inspired by Maclin’s own lived experience and incarceration — premiered at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival and earned widespread acclaim. Maclin shared in the film’s Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay, received a BAFTA nomination for Supporting Actor, and won a Gotham Award for Outstanding Supporting Performance. He will next appear in the independent feature ‘In Starland,’ written and directed by Ray Panthaki.
Behind the scenes, Philip Barantini will direct and executive produce the series through his It’s All Made Up Productions banner, alongside Samantha Beddoe. Adam Driver also executive produces in addition to starring. Bryan Unkeless and Craig Night executive produce via Night Owl Stories, with MRC serving as the studio under Craig’s first-look deal.
For Hall, ‘Rabbit, Rabbit’ continues a strong run of dramatic roles. Following her acclaimed performance in Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘One Battle After Another,’ she is also set to appear in ‘Scary Movie 6’ and Peacock’s ‘The Five Star Weekend.’
Production details and a release window for ‘Rabbit, Rabbit’ have not yet been announced.
