Ron Taylor has officially been named the winner of Funny AF with Kevin Hart, Netflix’s new stand-up competition series.
The Detroit-born comedian, known for his sharp storytelling and ability to “put a silly flair on serious things,” earned the title after a season of showcases, callbacks, and high-stakes sets across some of the country’s most iconic comedy clubs. With the win, Taylor secures a Netflix stand-up special and steps into what many are calling his breakout moment.
Taylor’s journey to the crown has been years in the making — from developing his timing and structure as a teenager to becoming a paid regular at the Comedy Store in Los Angeles. He was also previously handpicked by Bill Burr for The Ringers, the Comedy Central showcase spotlighting rising comics.
Across the competition, Taylor stood out for his ability to stretch a premise and elevate it with precision and confidence, ultimately outpacing finalists including Caitlin Peluffo, Usama Siddiquee, and Reg Thomas.
Kevin Hart, who created the series through Hartbeat, said of Taylor’s win: “Ron is such an amazing talent. He has a strong voice and great energy. He’s poised, polished, and positioned to be a face we’ll be seeing for quite some time.”
Hart added that all four finalists “did not disappoint,” calling the season “everything it was supposed to be plus more.”
The series, produced by Hartbeat and Alfred Street Industries, featured guest judges including Keegan-Michael Key, Tom Segura, Kumail Nanjiani, Chelsea Handler, Nikki Glaser, and Chris Rock. Episodes rolled out over three weeks, culminating in a live finale where audiences voted in real time.
Taylor will now tape his first Netflix special — reportedly titled Elevate — and is also set to appear at The Roast of Kevin Hart during Netflix Is a Joke Fest.
