Courtney A. Kemp Signs Multi-Year Overall Deal With Apple TV+

The Power universe creator makes her next move after Nemesis debuts as a global Netflix hit.

Courtney A. Kemp is taking her talents to Apple TV+. The Emmy-nominated creator, showrunner, and producer behind the Power universe has signed a new multi-year overall deal with the streamer, under which she and her production company End of Episode will develop and create series exclusively for Apple TV+, with the platform also receiving a first look on film projects.

The deal comes at a significant moment for Kemp. Her crime drama Nemesis, which recently premiered on Netflix, is currently the No. 1 series in the US and 15 other countries on the platform. Meanwhile, Power: Origins, a continuation of Power Book III: Raising Kanan, is currently in production in New York.

Kemp’s journey to Apple TV+ has been paved by a career built on high-stakes, character-driven storytelling. She first made her mark at Starz, where she created Power, the sprawling crime drama following James “Ghost” St. Patrick that became one of the network’s most popular series. From there she moved to Lionsgate before signing a high eight-figure deal with Netflix in 2021, which gave her the platform to expand End of Episode’s creative footprint and champion stories from women, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ voices. Nemesis was developed under that Netflix deal.

The Power franchise she built remains one of the most expansive in cable television history, with spinoffs including Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, Power Book IV: Force, and the forthcoming Power: Origins, all produced under End of Episode.

Apple TV+ notes that Kemp will continue to use her platform to create opportunities for greater inclusion within the industry as she builds out her new slate.
