Daniel Kaluuya may be heading back into high-concept territory.

The Oscar winner is in talks to lead Hotel Hotel Hotel Hotel, the next feature from Michael Shanks, the director behind Together. The project is set up at A24 as a negative pickup.

The mind-bending thriller follows a man who wakes up trapped inside a mysterious hotel room. Completely alone, he discovers the only way out requires collaboration — with himself.

Shanks wrote the script, which previously landed on the 2021 Black List, and will direct and produce. Producing alongside him are Mike Cowap and Emma Fitzsimmons for Princess Pictures, as well as Adam McKay and Todd Schulman for HyperObject Industries. Princess Pictures also backed Shanks’ debut, which broke out of Sundance in a major way before going on to global box office success.

For Kaluuya, the potential role continues a career built on bold swings across genre, spectacle, and grounded drama.

After commanding screens in Get Out, he re-teamed with filmmaker Jordan Peele for Nope, appeared in Black Panther, and earned an Academy Award for his portrayal of Fred Hampton in Judas and the Black Messiah. Animation audiences also know him as Hobie Brown from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

If the deal closes, Hotel Hotel Hotel Hotel would mark another intense, performance-driven puzzle for the actor — one that sounds psychologically demanding and tailor-made for his ability to hold the screen even in isolation.

More as this develops.
