Apple TV has quietly added another star to its next big thriller series: Daryl McCormack, fresh off his breakout role in Good Luck to You, Leo Grande and recent appearances in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery and Anniversary.
McCormack will step into the shoes of Kar, the reluctant heir to a sprawling international conglomerate, in a story that mixes high-stakes espionage, political intrigue, and a complicated romance. Dakota Fanning stars as an undercover Treasury agent tasked with infiltrating the company. Her mission becomes tangled when she starts to see Kar not as her target, but as a man who might actually be worth trusting—and even loving. Stellan Skarsgård plays Brandt, the formidable head of the conglomerate and Kar’s father figure, rounding out a tense family and corporate dynamic.
The series comes from Emmy-winning creator Alex Cary, who is executive producing alongside industry heavyweights Julie Gardner (Lady in the Lake, Doctor Who), Kari Skogland (Smoke, The Handmaid’s Tale), and Dakota and Elle Fanning, among others. Skogland will also direct, with Amy Kaufman (Invasion, Lady in the Lake) serving as EP.
For McCormack, this role continues a meteoric rise. The Irish actor earned BAFTA and IFTA nominations for his acclaimed turn opposite Emma Thompson in Good Luck to You, Leo Grande, and has quickly built a reputation for blending charm with intense, layered performances. His upcoming projects are equally high-profile, including Tom Ford’s Cry to Heaven, a Netflix adaptation of Pride and Prejudice from Dolly Alderton, and the literary adaptation I See Buildings Fall Like Lightning.
With Apple TV and Sony Pictures Television backing, plus a powerhouse creative team, the series promises a heady mix of thriller, romance, and corporate intrigue—positioning McCormack as one of Hollywood’s next must-watch actors.
