Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Method Man Join Kerry Washington, Omar Sy in Action Thriller Shadow Force

Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Method Man join previously cast Kerry Washington and Omar Sy in the action-thriller Shadow Force for Lionsgate.

Joe Carnahan is directing the feature that follows “an estranged couple with a bounty on their heads who must go on the run with their son to avoid their former employer, a shadow ops unit that has been sent to kill them.”

Carnahan co-wrote the film with Leon Chills. Stephen “Dr.” Love through his Made with Love Media company (which has an overall deal with Lionsgate) is producing as well as Kerry Washington and Pilar Savone via Washington’s production company Simpson Street. Sterling K Brown who was previously cast to co-star in the project is onboard to produce as well through his Indian Meadows Productions.

Details as to the roles Randolph and Smith will play haven’t been disclosed.

Executive producers are Kathy Atkinson, Indian Meadows’ Danielle Reardon and Jennifer Wiley-Stockton. Lionsgate’s Robert Melnik negotiated the deals on behalf of the studio. Pic is being overseen at Lionsgate by Aaron Edmonds and Jorge Alfaro Silva. Quinn Curry is overseeing the production for Made With Love Media.

Randolph can currently be seen in season two of Hulu’s hit series Only Murders in the Building. She’s recurred on the series since season one as Detective Williams. Her credits also include The Lost City, Dolemite Is My Name, The United States vs. Billie Holiday, and High Fidelity. Up next she will star in the comedy Shriver, Netflix’s Bayard Rustin biopic Rustin and The Holdovers.

Rapper and actor Method Man (real name Clifford Smith) is currently starring in Starz series Power Book II: Ghost which will return with season three. He also is lending his voice to narrate DC Comics’ Milestone Generations, streaming on HBO Max. Up next he will star in Sanaa Lathan’s directorial debut On the Come Up and voice a character in Disney Channel’s upcoming animated series, Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.
