Comedian and content creator Desi Banks is stepping into scripted TV.
The Atlanta native is developing a half-hour multi-camera comedy with BET Studios, inspired by his own stand-up and real-life experiences. The untitled series follows a “lovable yet stubborn comedian on the rise as he attempts to balance fatherhood, relationships, and the pursuit of his ever-present dream.”
Banks is co-writing the project with fellow Atlanta native Malcolm “Champ” Heaggans. The duo will also serve as executive producers.
The project keeps it all the way Atlanta. In addition to Banks and Heaggans, the show is being produced by Quality Films — led by Kevin “Coach K” Lee, Pierre “P” Thomas, and Christopher Hicks — as well as 3 Arts Entertainment, which recently opened an Atlanta office headed by executive producer Jermaine Johnson. Terrence Battle is also on board as an executive producer.
Banks is currently on his Elevation Tour, following his sold-out Purpose Chaser Tour in 2024. Over the years, he’s toured with heavyweights like Mike Epps, Deray Davis, Kountry Wayne, Gary Owen, Lavell Crawford, and even joined Martin Lawrence for select stops in Las Vegas, LA, and Oakland.
Beyond the stage, Banks runs his own production company, Desi Banks Productions, and has created more than 3,500 original videos. His viral sketches have led to brand partnerships with DraftKings, Meta, Red Bull, DoorDash, and more. On screen, he’s appeared in Little, Haunted Trail, and One of Them Days.
Stay tuned — this sitcom could be the next major laugh track coming out of the South.
