DeWanda Wise and Guy Pearce Confront a Frontier Curse in Supernatural Western ‘Killing Faith’ [TRAILER]

DeWanda Wise steps into haunting new territory in the supernatural western Killing Faith, where faith, fear, and survival collide against a plague-stricken 1849 frontier.

The film follows Dr. Steel Bender (Guy Pearce), a cynical widowed physician forced to guide a former slave (Wise) and her enigmatic daughter across the desert in search of a distant preacher-physician (Bill Pullman). The mother believes her child is possessed; the doctor suspects a deadly, contagious illness. Either way, everything the girl touches dies — and whispers of a devil’s curse spread faster than the sickness itself.

The newly released trailer teases an unforgiving journey where every step brings danger, and every choice could mean life or death. Between tense shootouts, chilling stares, and lines like “This child carries in her all that is wicked,” the clip sets up a tense showdown between science, superstition, and the darkness both can’t explain.

Joining Wise, Pearce, and Pullman are Raoul Trujillo (Blue Beetle), Jamie Neumann (21 Bridges), Jack Alcott (Dexter: New Blood), Joanna Cassidy (Blade Runner), and Emily Ford (Hold Your Breath).

Written and directed by Ned Crowley (Middle Man), Killing Faith blends western grit with supernatural suspense. Produced by Film Bridge International, Choice Films, and Triple Seven Pictures, the film is backed by an ensemble of producers including Jordan Dykstra, Ellen Wander, Zori Davidkova, and Wes Hager, with executive producers Summer Crockett Moore, Tony Glazer, Matthew Helderman, Luke Taylor, Grady Craig, Justin Hawkins, and Ben Demaree.

Shout! Studios, which acquired North and Latin American distribution rights, will release the film in theaters on October 3, 2025.
