The upcoming Amazon Prime Video series ‘Blade Runner 2099’ has announced new cast members, including Dimitri Abold and Sheila Atim. They join a growing ensemble for the highly anticipated sci-fi action-thriller from Alcon Entertainment and Amazon MGM Studios.
Dimitri Abold, known for ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes,’ and Lewis Gribben from ‘Somewhere Boy’ are set as series regulars. They will star alongside Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer. Additionally, Sheila Atim from ‘The Woman King,’ Katelyn Rose Downey from ‘The Nun II,’ Daniel Rigby of ‘Renegade Nell,’ Johnny Harris from ‘A Gentleman in Moscow,’ Amy Lennox of ‘Only Child,’ and Matthew Needham from ‘House of the Dragon’ will join as recurring guest stars.

The series will take place after the events of the original ‘Blade Runner’ and the sequel ‘Blade Runner 2049.’ The original ‘Blade Runner’ (1982) directed by Ridley Scott, grossed $41.5 million at the box office against a $30 million budget, gaining a cult following over time. ‘Blade Runner 2049’ (2017), directed by Denis Villeneuve, grossed $259.2 million worldwide with a production budget of $150 million. Despite not being a major box office hit, it was critically acclaimed and won two Academy Awards.
Production has begun in Prague and will later move to Barcelona. Silka Luisa serves as showrunner and executive producer, with Ridley Scott also executive producing. The production team includes Alcon Entertainment co-founders Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson, Ben Roberts, David W. Zucker, Clayton Krueger, Tom Spezialy, Richard Sharkey, Michael Green, Cynthia Yorkin, Frank Giustra, and Isa Dick Hackett. Jonathan van Tulleken will direct the first two episodes.
‘Blade Runner 2099’ is expected to continue the franchise’s legacy of exploring a dystopian future. Further details on characters and plot remain under wraps.
