The Walt Disney Company and TikTok have announced a wide-ranging global partnership that will allow TikTok creators to use assets from Disney’s vast library of films and series to create fan content, with a curated selection of those videos appearing on both TikTok and Disney+.
Under the deal, TikTok creators who opt into the program will gain access to assets from hundreds of Disney films and series spanning Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, FX and more. Their short-form vertical videos will live on both TikTok and in Verts, the vertical video feed Disney launched on Disney+ in March. The content will be refreshed regularly to keep fans engaged in timely conversations around Disney’s franchises and IP.
The partnership will pilot in the U.S. in the coming months with plans to expand to other markets. Financial terms were not disclosed.
“The best storytellers are fans first,” said Asad Ayaz, Chief Marketing and Brand Officer at The Walt Disney Company. “This collaboration creates a new bridge between the stories we tell and the creativity they inspire, giving creators a bigger stage to share what they’ve made, and audiences more to discover on Disney+ every day.”
Dawn Yang, TikTok’s Global Head of Entertainment, added: “Creators are at the heart of everything we do at TikTok. Their creativity extends the life of films and shows into conversations that fans discover and share. Together with Disney, we’re bringing the authentic creator expression of the TikTok community to Disney+.”
Central to the partnership is the Disney Creator Ambassador Program, a jointly run initiative designed to nurture the next generation of creative talent. Top creators will receive special rewards, increased visibility, access to exclusive events and career development pathways, signaling Disney’s long-term interest in building relationships with social media creators beyond a simple licensing arrangement.
The deal is backed by significant data on fan behavior. According to internal TikTok figures, fans shared an average of 6.5 million film and TV-related posts on the platform each day last year. Nearly half of surveyed viewers said they went on to watch a movie or TV show on a streaming service after discovering it through TikTok content.
The announcement comes as Disney and other major streamers continue to prioritize vertical video. Peacock, HBO Max and Netflix have all rolled out enhanced vertical video offerings in recent months, reflecting a broader recognition that mobile-first viewing habits are reshaping how audiences consume entertainment.
