Dominique Fishback is Teaming Back Up With Jamie Foxx For Subverted

Dominique Fishback is teaming back up with her Project Power co-star Jamie Foxx.

Fishback is working with Foxx to adapt her one-woman show Subverted into a new special.

Before the 29-year old was making headlines for starring in films such as Judas and the Black Messiah, she wrote and starred in her own one-woman show for her honors thesis at Pace University.

Subverted is centered around Eden (Fishback), an 18-year-old girl living in the inner city, and depicts “the destruction of Black identity” as seen through her eyes. The actor plays more than 20 characters in the piece.

She has since performed Subverted with the MCC Theater Youth Company, Lucille Lortel with Abingdon Theatre’s Ghostlight Reading Series, Wild Project Theater Poetic License Festival and Off Broadway at Culture Project’s Women Center Stage Festival at the Lynn Redgrave Theater.

Fishback will executive produce the project alongside Foxx and his producing partner Datari Turner.

This past year has been a whirlwind of success for the Hollywood starlet. She has starred in Project Power opposite Jamie Foxx and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. She recently portrayed Fred Hampton’s fianceé Deborah Johnson in Judas and the Black Messiah, a role she’s received many accolades for portraying.

Fishback’s credits also include The Hate U Give, Night Comes On, HBO’s The Deuce, and Show Me a Hero. Up next you can catch her in Season 2 of Amazon’s “Modern Love” anthology. She will also star opposite Samuel L. Jackson The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey for Apple TV.

Jamie Foxx’s series Dad You’re Embarrassing Me will begin streaming April 14th.
