Elijah Reed and Charrell Mack have joined the cast of Behind Closed Doors, the upcoming political murder mystery feature from writer-director Joseph Sperber.
The film recently began production in Los Angeles and marks Sperber’s feature directorial debut following his short film Let Us Play, which starred Doug Jones and screened at the LA Shorts International Film Festival.
Reed and Mack join a cast that also includes Nick Samson, Melissa Alce, and Christian Haines.
Set in the fall of 1979 against the backdrop of Cold War-era Washington, the film follows a wounded federal agent played by Haines who collapses into the apartment of his reclusive neighbor, played by Samson. What begins as an ordinary evening quickly spirals into a tense standoff filled with paranoia, shifting loyalties, and buried secrets.
Sperber described the project as a “timely political story” centered on “truth and paranoia,” adding that the film’s real-time structure and single-location setting were key to building suspense.
Behind Closed Doors is produced by Galileo Mondol and Carlos Lopes for BT Studios alongside producer Aaron Schmidt. Cinematography is handled by Martin Taube.
