Ernest L. Dancy has launched Views, an app combining social media-style content distribution with streaming and broadcast access, through his company, The MTN Company. The company positions itself as a distribution platform built to deliver both traditional studio and independent productions to exhibitors while also powering a social app for user-generated content. The app’s beta version has been available in app stores for the past year.
Dancy holds several roles across the industry: he’s the creator, writer, and executive producer of BET’s Lot Patrol, head of the literary department at The Wayne Agency, and now founder of MTN. In a statement, he described VIEWS as a response to what he called a fractured entertainment landscape, saying the goal is to give independent creators a platform to build an audience and careers, while offering broadcasters and advertisers a single, unified way to reach increasingly mobile-first audiences.
According to Dancy, MTN has begun reaching out to a range of industry figures regarding potential partnerships, advisory roles, and capital raising. Those relationships are described as early-stage outreach rather than confirmed partnerships.
The launch comes as the broader industry faces real structural pressure: cord-cutting continuing to erode traditional cable revenue, consolidation among major networks and studios, and audiences increasingly shifting toward mobile and short-form vertical content over theatrical or appointment viewing. Views is positioned by its founder as a direct answer to that shift.
