Survival of the Thickest is officially coming back for one last ride.

The third and final season of the hit Netflix comedy starring and co-created by Michelle Buteau will premiere July 2, and the streamer unveiled the first teaser during Buteau’s set at the Netflix Is a Joke Fest in a surprise-filled moment that also featured guest star Wanda Sykes appearing onstage.

The teaser wastes no time reminding viewers why Mavis Beaumont remains one of the most refreshing characters on television. “Get my good side,” Mavis says in the clip. “It’s all my sides.”

Inspired by Buteau’s book of essays, Survival of the Thickest follows Mavis Beaumont, a Black, plus-size stylist navigating love, friendship, self-worth, and career ambition in New York City. Season 3 sees Mavis continuing to build her brand as both a stylist and designer while leaning on her chosen family and signature confidence along the way.

The teaser hints at even bigger fashion chaos and comedy this season, teasing moments described as “the Oscars of fashion, the Emmys of art,” and “the Olympics of wedgies.”

Alongside Buteau, returning cast members include Tone Bell, Marouane Zotti, Peppermint, Liza Treyger, Garcelle Beauvais, RonReaco Lee, Anthony Michael Lopez, and Alecsys Proctor-Turner.

After recurring during the first two seasons, Zotti has now been promoted to series regular.

Season 3 will also feature an impressive lineup of guest stars, including Sykes, D.L. Hughley, Ashley Graham, Ronny Chieng, Wyatt Cenac, Jenna Lyons, Ice-T, LaQuan Smith, Charles Harbison, and Ashley Romans.

The final season also marks a major milestone behind the camera. Buteau will make her directorial debut with Episode 5, while co-creator Danielle Sanchez-Witzel directs Episode 3. Amy Aniobi returns as showrunner and executive producer for the season, with directing contributions from Aniobi and Kim Nguyen.

Produced by A24, the series has become one of Netflix’s standout comedies thanks to its unapologetic celebration of body positivity, Black womanhood, friendship, and joy — all while delivering sharp humor and heartfelt storytelling.

The final season of Survival of the Thickest premieres July 2 on Netflix.
