Netflix just dropped the teaser trailer for Madea’s Destination Wedding, and the family reunion is headed straight to the islands.
Tyler Perry returns to write, direct, and once again step into the heels of Madea in what marks the 13th installment of the beloved Madea film series. Set to premiere July 11, Madea’s Destination Wedding brings the no-nonsense matriarch — and her wildly entertaining crew — to the Bahamas for a tropical twist on family dysfunction.
This time around, it’s Madea’s grandniece Tiffany who’s shaking things up. After announcing she’s engaged to a rapper she met on a yacht — with the wedding happening in just two weeks — her parents, Brian and Debrah, are left stunned. Naturally, what follows is a sun-soaked storm of vacation drama, clashing personalities, and some signature Madea mayhem.
Alongside Perry in multiple roles, the cast includes Tamela Mann, Cassi Davis, David Mann, Diamond White, Taja V. Simpson, Jermaine Harris, and Xavier Smalls.
In the teaser, we get a glimpse of what’s to come — and yes, it’s as chaotic as you’d hope. Whether it’s unexpected romance, uninvited guests, or just Madea being Madea, the trip promises plenty of laughs and more than a few side-eyes.
Madea’s Destination Wedding also marks the 20th anniversary of the Madea film franchise, which kicked off in 2005 with Diary of a Mad Black Woman. It follows 2022’s A Madea Homecoming and is one of several Netflix projects Tyler Perry currently has in the works, including Straw, Ruth & Boaz, She the People, and new episodes of Beauty in Black.
And based on this first look, Madea still knows how to shut a party down.
