Glen Powell is unrecognizable in the first full-length trailer for Hulu’s upcoming comedy series Chad Powers. The actor revealed the footage Saturday morning during ESPN’s College GameDay, showcasing a prosthetic-heavy transformation and a wild football comeback story.
Alongside Powell, the cast includes Quentin Plair, Wynn Everett, Perry Mattfeld, Frankie A. Rodriguez, and Steve Zahn. Xavier Mills, Colton Ryan, Clayne Crawford, and Toby Huss will also appear in recurring roles.
Powell stars as Russ Holliday, once a hotshot quarterback at Oregon whose career came crashing down after a humiliating, ego-fueled blunder in a championship game. Eight years later, Holliday gets a shot at redemption when South Georgia University hosts open tryouts. To get back on the field, he dons a new identity—Chad Powers—complete with heavy prosthetics and a questionable disguise.
The six-episode series premieres September 30 with a two-episode drop, followed by weekly installments every Tuesday.
Chad Powers comes from co-creators and executive producers Powell and Michael Waldron (Loki). Eli Manning—whose 2022 viral Penn State sketch as Chad Powers inspired the series—serves as executive producer alongside Peyton Manning, Jamie Horowitz, Ben Brown, and ESPN’s Burke Magnus, Brian Lockhart, and Kati Fernandez through Omaha Productions. Waldron and Adam Fasullo executive produce for Anomaly Pictures, with Luvh Rakhe also executive producing. Tony Yacenda (American Vandal) directs and executive produces, while Powell contributes as co-writer and executive producer under his Barnstorm Productions banner.
“South Georgia is having open tryouts? I am going to do a Mrs. Doubtfire, but with football,” Powell quips in the trailer, teasing the absurdity of Holliday’s second chance at glory.
Chad Powers kicks off September 30 exclusively on Hulu.
