Gabrielle Union is set to release a two-part docu-series titled “My Journey to 50” as part of her overall deal with BET. The series will be available for streaming exclusively on BET+ from June 15th.
The documentary follows Union as she travels to Africa with her husband, Dwyane Wade, and other close family and friends to celebrate her 50th birthday. The series will highlight Union’s journey of self-discovery as she explores her heritage and gains insight into her true self.
Viewers can expect to see the “L.A.’s Finest” star take on a variety of experiences throughout the two-part special, as she travels from the island of Zanzibar to the coast of Ghana, the parks of Namibia, and the nightlife of South Africa. The journey is sure to be a celebration of Union’s life, as well as an opportunity for reflection on her past and how it has shaped who she is today.
“My Journey to 50” will feature a star-studded cast of Union’s family and friends, including her daughter Kaavia James Union Wade, mother Theresa, Aunt Katie, niece Chelsea, and sister Tracy. Jesse Collins, executive producer of the series, will oversee the project through his production company, Jesse Collins Entertainment. Dionne Harmon, president of Jesse Collins Entertainment, expressed excitement at the opportunity to document such an important milestone for Union.
