Genneya Walton, recognized for her roles in “Candy Cane Lane” and “Never Have I Ever,” is set to join the cast of the upcoming Disney+ series “Daredevil: Born Again.” The Marvel Studios production, featuring Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, faced a brief production pause due to a writers’ strike in mid-June, leading to a creative overhaul.
The series, featuring Charlie Cox reprising his role as the blind attorney-turned-superhero Matt Murdock, also brings back familiar faces such as Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, and Jon Bernthal returning as the Punisher. Notably, the production underwent changes during a pause in mid-June, with Dario Scardapane taking over as the new showrunner, replacing Matt Corman and Chris Ord.
Walton’s character details are being kept under wraps, adding an extra layer of anticipation for viewers. However, insiders suggest she will portray a young journalist with intriguing connections to a character from the original series.
The ensemble cast of “Daredevil: Born Again” includes Margarita Levieva, Arty Froushan, Sandrine Holt, Michael Gandolfini, and Nikki M. James. Additionally, Wilson Bethel is set to reprise his role as Benjamin Poindexter/Bullseye from the original series.
Genneya Walton’s recent credits include a prominent recurring role in Season 4 of Netflix’s “Never Have I Ever” and a starring role in the Amazon Christmas movie “Candy Cane Lane,” alongside Eddie Murphy and Tracee Ellis Ross. Her versatile portfolio also includes the lead role in the Storm Reid-produced feature film “Darby and the Dead” (Disney/Hulu) and a series regular position in the Kenya Barris/Rashida Jones Netflix comedy “#BlackAf” as well as “MC2” on Netflix.
