Giancarlo Esposito is adding another show to his resume, joining the cast of Peacock’s Emmy Award-winning series ‘Poker Face’ as one of the first guest stars revealed for Season 2. Alongside Esposito, Katie Holmes (‘Our Town,’ ‘Ray Donovan’), Gaby Hoffmann (‘Transparent,’ ‘Eric’), and Kumail Nanjiani (‘Welcome to Chippendales,’ ‘Only Murders in the Building’) are also set to appear. Details about their characters remain under wraps.
Created, written, directed, and executive produced by Rian Johnson, ‘Poker Face’ is a mystery-of-the-week series starring Natasha Lyonne as Charlie, a woman with an extraordinary ability to detect lies. Traveling in her Plymouth Barracuda, Charlie encounters a new cast of characters and strange crimes in each episode, which she can’t help but solve.
In its first season, ‘Poker Face’ featured a star-studded lineup of guest stars, including Dascha Polanco, Tim Meadows, Adrien Brody, Ron Perlman, Chloë Sevigny, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Stephanie Hsu, Clea DuVall, Hong Chau, Megan Suri, Danielle Macdonald, Judith Light, Ellen Barkin, Jameela Jamil, Charles Melton, Rowan Blanchard, and Rhea Perlman. Judith Light won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy for her portrayal of Irene Smothers.
Season 2 will see Tony Tost serving as showrunner and executive producer, alongside Johnson, Lyonne, Ram Bergman, Nena Rodrigue, Adam Arkin, Nora Zuckerman, and Lilla Zuckerman. The show is produced by MRC and T-Street, with Lyonne’s production banner, Animal Pictures, also contributing. Lyonne will continue to direct in the upcoming season.
‘Poker Face’ has already garnered critical acclaim and four Emmy nominations for its first season, including a nomination for Lyonne as best actress in a comedy series. The new season aims to build on this success with its impressive lineup of guest stars and intriguing mysteries.
