Disney+ Releases Trailer for 'Goosebumps' Season 2, Starring Elijah M. Cooper

Disney+ has unveiled the official trailer for Goosebumps Season 2, offering a fresh take on R.L. Stine’s classic horror stories. Subtitled The Vanishing, the upcoming season embraces an anthology format, introducing a new cast, setting, and spine-chilling mysteries. The season premieres on January 10, with all eight episodes dropping simultaneously.

This season’s story centers on twins Cece (Jayden Bartels) and Devin Brewer (Sam McCarthy), who spend the summer with their father, Anthony Brewer, played by David Schwimmer (Friends). Anthony, a former botany professor, warns his children to stay out of his basement—though the reason for this ominous rule soon becomes horrifyingly clear.

The trailer teases a gripping narrative as Cece, Devin, and their friends—CJ (Elijah M. Cooper), Alex (Francesca Noel), and Franki (Galilea La Salvia)—become entangled in a decades-old mystery. The story unravels after Anthony’s brother’s mysterious death in 1994, coinciding with the disappearance of four local teens. Elements from classic Stine tales such as Stay Out of the Basement, The Haunted Car, Monster Blood, and The Girl Who Cried Monster are seamlessly woven into the plot.

The preview showcases a blend of supernatural thrills, including a sentient plant that attacks Anthony and Devin, a possessed car, and a mysterious ooze that emerges from Cece’s sink. The unsettling imagery hints at a season filled with suspense and scares.

Season 2 also introduces Ana Ortiz (Ugly Betty) as Jen, a determined detective who uncovers connections to the eerie events of her own youth. This season follows the success of Goosebumps Season 1, which adapted stories like The Haunted Mask and Say Cheese and Die, earning praise for its serialized storytelling.

Goosebumps has been a staple of horror for generations, first as a beloved book series, then as a ‘90s TV anthology, and later as a pair of feature films. With the shift to an anthology format, Season 2 promises to continue the legacy with fresh scares and compelling twists.

Catch all the thrills when Goosebumps: The Vanishing premieres exclusively on Disney+ and Hulu.
