Halle Berry to Star In and Produce Psychological Thriller “The Process”

Halle-Berry the process

Oscar-winner Halle Berry is set to take on a lead role in the upcoming psychological thriller “The Process,” directed by Tara Miele.

The story of “The Process” unfolds with a seemingly contented married couple attending a weekend seminar led by Aiden, a renowned self-help guru. They are asked to scrutinize their individual lives, careers, and, most significantly, their marriage. However, when Kirsa resists Aiden’s “process” and his following of devoted volunteers, while Peter fully embraces it, their relationship and sanity face a perilous test. The screenplay, originally featured on the Black List, was penned by Levin Menekse.

Berry will also be one of the film’s producers through her production company, HalleHolly, alongside Robert Kravis and Karl Herrmann from Pioneer Pictures. Julia Sandberg Hansson is also involved in the production.

“We are thrilled to be working with HalleHolly to bring Levin’s amazing screenplay to the screen. Tara’s vision for the film—a Kubrickian psychological thriller taking us down the rabbit-hole of self-help cults, and Halle’s interpretation of the film’s lead character, Kirsa—a woman fighting to preserve her marriage and her sanity amid an oppressive cult of personality, will leave audiences breathless,” expressed producers Robert Kravis and Karl Herrmann from Pioneer Pictures.

The international sales for “The Process” will be managed by FilmNation Entertainment at the American Film Market (AFM), while North American rights will be co-represented by Verve Ventures and WME Independent. It’s worth noting that Berry’s attachment to the film predates the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Director Tara Miele expressed her excitement for the project, highlighting the gripping and emotionally resonant nature of the script. Berry’s involvement as both an actress and a producer was also praised.

“It’s so rare to find a script like Levin Menekse’s ‘The Process’ that is gripping, emotionally resonant, and feels essential in this moment. I’m thrilled to get to bring this gem to life and to collaborate with Halle Berry, who brings such raw, real presence to the screen as an actress and is also an incredibly thoughtful collaborator and savvy producer.”

In addition to “The Process,” Berry will soon be seen in Netflix’s “The Union” alongside Mark Wahlberg. She recently made her directorial debut in “Bruised,” a film that achieved global success on the streaming service.
