The cast alone has me very excited for The Harder They Fall.
Regina King, Delroy Lindo, Zazie Beetz, Lakeith Stanfield, Edi Gathegi, Danielle Deadwyler, and RJ Cyler join Idris Elba and Johnathan Majors in the Netflix western.
The Harder They Fall follows an outlaw by the name of Nat Love (Majors). He discovers the man (Elba) who killed his parents decades prior will be released from prison. So, he gets his old gang back together for a vengeance mission.
The newly added cast, their roles have yet to be identified but they are currently in cowboy camp, learning the skills of gunslinging and horseback riding. Soon they will head to New Mexico for the shoot.

Jaymes Samuel, otherwise known as singer-songwriter The Bullitts, is making his directorial feature debut on the film from a script by Samuel and Boaz Yakin.
The project was days away from starting in March when pandemic concerns forced a postponement. Fall ended up losing several actors including Cynthia Erivo because of the push.
King won an Oscar for her work in 2019’s If Beale Street Could Talk and is Emmy-nominated for outstanding lead actress in a limited series or movie for HBO’s Watchmen. She is repped by ICM Partners, John Carrabino Management, and Del Shaw.
Jay-Z, James Lassiter, Lawrence Bender, and Samuel are producing the movie. Having worked with Jay-Z on the soundtrack for The Great Gatsby, Samuel will reunite with the rapper to produce and develop new music for the film.

The casting news comes as King premieres her feature directorial debut, One Night in Miami, at the Toronto International Film Festival.
It’s a fictionalized story about Muhammad Ali, Malcolm X, Jim Brown, and Sam Cooke gathering to celebrate Ali’s surprise title win over Sonny Liston.

Beetz is best known for her work as Vanessa Keefer in the FX series Atlanta. Her feature credits include Deadpool 2 and Joker. Stanfield also stars in Atlanta with feature credits on “Get Out,” “Sorry to Bother You,” “Uncut Gems” and Knives Out.
Gathegi’s credits include “Twilight,” “The Blacklist,” and X-Men: First Class. Deadwyler’s credits include “Watchmen” and “Atlanta.” Cyler starred in “Power Rangers,” “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl” and I’m Dying Up Here.
