In a spine-tingling revelation, HBO Max has given fans an exclusive glimpse into its highly anticipated original series, “It: Welcome to Derry.” The new teaser trailer for ‘Welcome to Derry’ highlights the blood and gore that awaits viewers, serving as a prequel to the iconic “It” franchise.
The series will see Bill Skarsgård reprising his role as Pennywise joining previously cast series regulars Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, James Remar, and Stephen Rider.
Directed by Andy Muschietti and produced by Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs, the series delves into the dark history of the infamous town of Derry, setting the stage long before the arrival of the Losers’ Club. The teaser, part of a sizzle reel highlighting upcoming HBO and Max programming, maintains a sense of mystery while showcasing several chilling scenes. A character ominously declares, “This ain’t America. This is Derry,” setting the tone for the dark and eerie events to come. The trailer features glimpses of terrified characters, some covered in blood, and a sinister smile from one character.
Madeleine Stowe, Peter Outerbridge, Rudy Mancuso, Alixandra Fuchs, Kimberly Guerrero, Dorian Grey, Joshua Odjick, Thomas Mitchell, BJ Harrison, Shane Marriott, Chad Rook, and Morningstar Angeline will recur in the series. The production team includes executive producer Jason Fuchs and co-showrunners Brad Caleb Kane of ‘Tokyo Vice’.
Andy Muschietti directs four of the nine episodes, aiming to evoke the unease and quiet terror that define Derry beyond Pennywise. The series could incorporate many Stephen King book moments that didn’t make it into the ‘It’ movies, promising a darker and more intense narrative.
