HBO Max Drops Trailer for Euphoria: A Look Back, Retrospective Special Premiering July 24

HBO Max has released the trailer for Euphoria: A Look Back, a documentary retrospective special arriving on the platform July 24.

The special is not a continuation of the drama’s story but rather a companion piece drawing on new cast interviews and archival behind-the-scenes footage from the show’s run. Zendaya, Jacob Elordi and other cast members reflect on the series, from the pilot through its conclusion.

Euphoria first premiered on HBO in June 2019, created by Sam Levinson and loosely based on an Israeli series of the same name. The show followed a group of teenagers in a Southern California suburb navigating addiction, identity, trauma, sexuality and mental health through a visually bold and emotionally raw lens. Zendaya led the ensemble as Rue Bennett, a teenager struggling with drug addiction following a near-fatal overdose.

The cast included Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, Barbie Ferreira, Storm Reid, Colman Domingo, Nika King, Algee Smith, Javon Walton, and the late Eric Dane and Angus Cloud.

The show became one of the defining cultural touchstones of its era, influencing fashion, makeup and broader conversations around how young people are portrayed on television. Its second season drew record viewership for HBO. The series concluded earlier this year with its final season, which earned multiple Emmy nominations including Outstanding Drama Series.

Zendaya earned back-to-back Emmy wins for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2022 and 2024 for her portrayal of Rue, making her the youngest two-time winner in that category in Emmy history. The show also earned Emmy wins for cinematography, costume design and original music, among others, across its run.

Euphoria: A Look Back begins streaming on HBO Max on July 24.
