Apple TV+ has dropped the teaser for the second season of Hijack, and this time Idris Elba’s Sam Nelson isn’t in the sky — he’s underground.
The teaser shows Elba stepping onto a Berlin subway train with an apparent explosive device attached to it, setting the stage for another heart-pounding, real-time thriller.
Returning January 14, 2026, Hijack Season 2 reunites Elba with Christine Adams, Max Beesley, and Archie Panjabi as the story moves from the air to the rails. The new season follows what happens when “a Berlin underground train and its commuters are taken hostage,” forcing Nelson to once again use his crisis-negotiation instincts to keep hundreds alive.
Joining the cast this season are Christian Näthe (Ballon), Clare-Hope Ashitey (Seven Seconds, Top Boy), Lisa Vicari (Dark), Toby Jones (Empire of Light), Karima McAdams (Dune: Prophecy), and Christiane Paul (FBI: International).
Created by George Kay (Lupin, Criminal) and Jim Field Smith (Litvinenko), the eight-episode second season kicks off with a two-episode premiere on Wednesday, January 14, followed by weekly episodes through February 25, 2026.
Produced by 60Forty Films and Idiotlamp Productions, Elba once again serves as executive producer alongside Kay, Field Smith, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, and Tom Nash. Field Smith also directs the season.
The first season of Hijack became one of Apple TV+’s biggest hits, earning a Certified Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes and landing on Nielsen’s Streaming Originals Top 10 list. Elba also received an Emmy nomination for his performance.
Now, he’s back in the middle of another impossible situation — this time beneath the streets of Berlin.
Boarding begins January 14 on Apple TV+.
