John Stamos is set to guest star on the upcoming second season of ‘Unprisoned’. He’s the latest to guest star to join following the previous addition of Oliver Hudson and Jamie Chung. Brandee Evans was also added in a recurring role.
Inspired by creator Tracy McMillan’s life, UnPrisoned follows a messy but perfectionist relationship therapist, social media influencer and single mom, Paige Alexander (Kerry Washington), whose life is turned right-side-up when her dad, Edwin Alexander (Delroy Lindo), gets out of prison and moves in with her and her teenage son Finn (Faly Rakotohavana). Marque Richardson, Brenda Strong, Tim Daly, Jee Young Han, and Jordyn McIntosh round out the cast.
Season 2 delves deeper into the Paige and Edwin’s family dynamic. Paige’s therapy practice is in trouble, Finn’s anxiety is through the roof, Edwin is still figuring out how to get his life together outside of prison, and their relationships are more complicated than ever. The family needs help, and it’s time to call in a professional – OTHER than Paige. They turn to a “family radical healing coach,” who throws out all the rules to free them of the issues, old wounds and family secrets holding them back.
Season 2 premieres Wednesday, July 17 on Hulu with all 8 episodes dropping at once.
John Stamos will take on the recurring role of “Murphy,” a best-selling author and self-proclaimed “family radical healing coach.” Murphy is a half-guru/half-reality star, cut to the chase type therapist who believes in telling people straight up what’s wrong with them.
The series is executive produced by Tracy McMillan, Yvette Lee Bowser and Kerry Washington, alongside Pilar Savone, through their Simpson Street production company, and Delroy Lindo. Joy Gorman Wettels and Jen Braeden also executive produce. The series hails from Onyx Collective on Hulu and is produced by ABC Signature.
The series, which premiered in March 2023 and quickly became a fan favorite, follows the life of single mom and therapist Paige Alexander as she navigates the challenges of parenthood, relationships, and her father’s return from prison. With Kerry Washington also serving as an executive producer, “UnPrisoned” has been lauded for its unique perspective on modern family dynamics.
