Jonathan Majors is in talks to star opposite Michael B Jordan for Creed III.
According to Deadline, negotiations are underway for Majors to star in the film as Adonis Creed’s ring nemesis. For the deal, they are trying to get around Major’s busy schedule.
Jordan is reprising his role for the third installment of the Creed Franchise. He is also producing and will make his directorial debut with this film.
“Directing has always been an aspiration, but the timing had to be right,” Jordan said in a statement. “Creed III is that moment — a time in my life where I’ve grown more sure of who I am, holding agency in my own story, maturing personally, growing professionally, and learning from the Greats like Ryan Coogler, most recently Denzel Washington, and other top tier directors I respect. All of which sets the table for this moment. This franchise and in particular the themes of Creed III are deeply personal to me. I look forward to sharing the next chapter of Adonis Creed’s story with the awesome responsibility of being its director and namesake.”
Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashad are returning in their respective roles. Sylvester Stallone however won’t be returning. Keenan Coogler and Zach Baylin penned the screenplay for Creed III based on an outline by Ryan Coogler. Creed III has a Thanksgiving 2022 release date.
Up next, Majors is set to play Kang The Conqueror in Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. He will next be seen in the Jaymes Samuel-directed Western, The Harder They Fall for Netflix, and Black Label Media’s Devotion.
