Disney Branded Television has officially greenlit Coven Academy, a single-camera supernatural dramedy from High School Musical: The Musical: The Series creator Tim Federle. Set to premiere in 2026 on Disney+ and Disney Channel, the series promises a mix of magic, mystery, and teen drama against the moody, enchanting backdrop of New Orleans.
Family Switch actor Jordan Leftwich will star as Sasha, joining a cast that includes Malina Pauli Weissman (A Series of Unfortunate Events) as Briar, Tiffani Thiessen (Alexa and Katie) as Miss Graves, Malachi Barton (Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires) as Jake, Louis Thresher (Boarders) as Ollie, and Ora Duplass (Their Town) as Tegan. Recurring guest stars include Brendon Tremblay (Descendants: Wicked Wonderland), Swayam Bhatia (Zombies 4), and Keegan Connor Tracy (Once Upon a Time).
The story follows a trio of teenage witches-in-training bound by destiny to protect their city from ancient, dangerous forces. Between unraveling dark secrets, mastering unpredictable magic, and facing distractingly cute rivals, they’ll also navigate the heartbreaks, friendships, and self-discovery that come with growing up.
Federle—who wrote and directed the pilot—executive produces alongside Kimberly McCullough and Bronwyn North-Reist under his Chorus Boy Productions banner. He’s keeping busy with multiple Disney projects, including Vampirina: Teenage Vampire (premiering Sept. 12 on Disney Channel), a Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion sequel, and a stage musical adaptation of The Greatest Showman.
