Jorge Lendeborg Jr. has officially joined the cast of The Last of Us for its upcoming third season.
Season 3 is shaping up to serve as the final chapter of the series and will be told primarily from the perspective of Abby, portrayed by Kaitlyn Dever, who stars opposite series lead Bella Ramsey.
Lendeborg Jr. will step into the role of Manny, replacing Danny Ramirez, who portrayed the character in a recurring capacity during Season 2 but is unable to return due to scheduling conflicts. Also joining Season 3 is Clea DuVall, who will portray a Seraphite, expanding the series’ exploration of the game’s darker factions.
Production is expected to begin this spring, with filming set to run from March through November in Vancouver.
Co-created by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, the post-apocalyptic drama was renewed for Season 3 ahead of Season 2’s debut last April. Mazin will serve as the sole showrunner for the new season following Druckmann’s departure after Seasons 1 and 2.
Based on the acclaimed video game franchise developed by Naughty Dog, The Last of Us follows survivors navigating a post-apocalyptic America overrun by a fungal infection. Season 1 debuted in 2023, starring Pedro Pascal as Joel and Ramsey as Ellie, and went on to win eight Emmy Awards.
Season 2 introduced Dever as Abby, alongside Ramirez, Young Mazino, Isabela Merced, Spencer Lord, and the late Catherine O’Hara. Dever, Ramsey, Mazino, and Merced are all expected to remain major players in Season 3, with casting currently underway for Lev and Yara, who will join the main cast.
Lendeborg Jr. is best known for his role as Jason Ionello in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man trilogy, where he appeared as a Midtown News host alongside Betty Brant. His credits also include Alita: Battle Angel, Bumblebee, Love, Simon, and Hulu’s Wu-Tang: An American Saga.
HBO has yet to announce a premiere date.
