Joyce Glenn and Dorien Wilson Team Up for Chess Serial Killer Thriller ‘CheckMate’ [TRAILER]

A serial killer is turning chess into a murder map in CheckMate, a new Tubi Original streaming April 11.

Joyce Glenn stars as Brittany, a detective who’s pulled into a twisted case that hits close to home. To catch a killer using chess to select his victims, she’s forced to reconnect with her estranged father — a chess master played by Dorien Wilson (The Parkers). Let’s just say the pieces are in place for some serious tension, both on and off the board.

The cast also includes Lorenzo Lamas (Renegade), Andra Fuller (The L.A. Complex), and Sarah Pribis. The film is directed by Jamal Hill, known for titles like Brotherly Love and Deuces, and was shot in and around Louisville, Kentucky.

The trailer gives a glimpse into the case at hand — and the rocky relationship at the heart of it. “I suggest you remove her from the case immediately,” one character warns. Her response? “I can solve this.”

It’s a cat-and-mouse chase wrapped inside a game of strategy, where each move could be someone’s last.

CheckMate is written and directed by Jamal Hill and produced by Jacobo Rispa and Damián Romay. Executive producers include Donte Lee and Tressa Azarel Smallwood.

CheckMate begins streaming April 11 on Tubi.
