‘Juwanna Mann’ 2 in the Works — Miguel A. Núñez Jr. Wants WNBA Stars Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese for Sequel

More than two decades after Juwanna Mann hit theaters, a sequel is officially moving forward, and star Miguel A. Núñez Jr. already has his dream cameos in mind: Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese.

Speaking with TMZ Sports, Núñez revealed that the script for Juwanna Mann 2 is in development and could be completed by mid-2026. The actor also shared he hopes to include both the Indiana Fever phenom and Chicago Sky standout in the film.

Núñez said many original cast members are expected to return, and like the 2002 film, the sequel will feature cameos from real-life basketball stars. He also noted that several WNBA and NBA players have expressed interest, adding that he “loves Caitlin Clark” and joked about wanting to “marry Angel Reese.”

This isn’t the first time Núñez has talked sequel plans. In 2023, he confirmed he was working to bring the franchise back, mentioning Draymond Green as one of the NBA names eager to participate.

Released in 2002, Juwanna Mann told the story of Jamal Jeffries, a fictional pro basketball player who disguises himself as a woman to join a women’s league after being suspended for his behavior. The original featured cameos from Rasheed Wallace, Dikembe Mutombo, Cynthia Cooper-Dyke, and Teresa Weatherspoon.

While the first film was critically panned and its central premise would spark very different conversations today, Núñez has insisted the new story will be mindful of the current cultural landscape and respectful to both the WNBA and LGBTQ+ communities.

Clark, who has helped usher in a record-breaking wave of viewership and support for women’s basketball, and Reese, who’s already booked acting roles, would certainly bring star power if they signed on.

No timeline for production has been announced, but Núñez says Juwanna Mann 2 is still moving forward.
